A very sneaky preview indeed... Chapter 1 of LAMPLIGHTER!

Just in time for Christmas I bring you... the first chapter of MBT 2 Lamplighter, ready for you to download from...

HERE!

My word, I sure hope you all like it - consider it a Christmas present.

Merry Jesusbirthday (as I like to call it) and may it be a brilliant new year for everyone of you. I am being very UP here - might need to include a few bah-humbugs next post.

  1. I just read through the first chapter of Lamplighter and all I can say is "WOW!" Way to open with a bang! Although, my favorite passages are those near the beginning describing the threwd and Briarywood, it's spine-tingling. Incredible bit of scene description there.

And I'm glad you liked my character. Thank you! :)

  2. Wow, nothing like starting things slowly! It's great, though, very action-ey and interesting- I was wondering how long it would take for you to mention Wits! Owch, a tad gory and morbid, too- certainly upps the arguement for invidism!

And hooray, you mentioned Licurius! :D *waves a silly little flag of joy*

Thanks for the Christmas chapter! Only a few more months to wait for the entire thing...

  3. Glad you are liking it so far - maybe a tad more intense than the first book. I am very nervous about how folks will like the story as a whole...

  4. Awesome. Thanks DM. Will have a little read tonight. Merry Jesusbirthday to you and yours.

I wonder...do they celebrate Christmas on the HC? If they do, would the lamplighters light lamps with different colours along the wormway just to get into the spirit of things?

  7. I just noticed I misspelt "very" as "veyr", and it strikes me that "veyr" is a very Half-Continental kind of word. Not at all sure what it means yet, but it is in my notebook now, waiting for a definition. Any ideas?

  8. veyr strikes me as something either serpentine or aeronautical. maybe a flying snake?

when will the first "Who in the H-C would you be?" creation appear in the sidebar, if at all?

  10. Wow. Really great way to open. Of course, now March seems a long way away.

DM - hope those CDs have arrived, and that you have a great Christmas.

  11. The first profile will be appearing early next year, I reckon - I plan - Mr Mooseguy; just get through the "silly season" and all that hip-hoorah-new-yeah stuff then on with plans. It will happen, just a matter of when... and of how, hmm...

Infact, if I seem a little less responsive than normal it is due to the time of year and that I have just moved house.

Babble away, Sam Bam, babble is good - it leads to ideas!

Ahh, Master Lawrence, no cds. Alas!! When did you send them - I was so looking forward to some new tunes. How is it such a small nation as NZ has such a disproportionatly high number of truly creatively excellent and far-seeing folks?

  12. Actually Master Lawrence to my great and deep delight your care package arrived today just after I wrote the above (wouldn't you know it!) Very cool and much more than I deserve and I am gagging to listen to them all - a very merry Christmas, indeed!

I think a care package of my own might be required... hmm...)

  13. 'Veyr' reminds me of the word 'vesper' like a kind of gas or element or something. Funny how a whole thread of conversation has grown from the misspelling of a word. :P
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you DM. :)

  14. DM - excellent - knew they couldn't be too far away. Hope you and yours have an excellent Christmas break. Do let me know what you think of the tunes.

    Lawrence

PS - and again, I say - Chapter One - WOW!
