It's a Book!

English language version of Monster-Blood Tattoo Book 2: Lamplighter is now officially out!
(This, of course, is written from an Australian perspective, so might be a tad premature regarding other countries - also some stores might not stinking well have copies in yet, even if it is meant to be out; for that I apologise...)

Woot!

Just got Lamplighter. It's really chunky like you said. Twice the size of Foundling.

Nice work!

Ah, bad luck, Fret. Sadly, my local bookstore hasn't got it yet either.
The storekeeper said it'll be available in just a few more days. So I'll pick it up next week.

Congrats, D.M, you must be really happy that it's finally out. It was a long wait, eh?

-Markus.

Long indeed - sorry for the slow-poke shops, folks.

My local book stockist (Fullers) was kind enough to have it in stock, but they're one of the better ones (plus they're "independent"). I haven't checked Angry St Robinsons's yet...

So there goes my weekend (reading the book that is, not browsing A&R!).

Congratulations Mr Cornish!! It's gotta be a relief to officially have Lamplighter out there.
Here's hoping this will further encourage and inspire with progressing on book 3!!

Wow i just got book 1, 3 weeks ago and i finished it an a week. So then i of course needed book 2 and i went to my local borders and it was there. I guess i had perfect timing? Im now half way through book 2, and i must say marvelously written.

Your descriptions of everything is soo vivid and amazing, i can see the whole world in my mind. I have to say i'm loving the fulgars, leers, nickers, and especially pistoleers.

Excellent work keep up the good work ll praises and cheers from me,

Jared.

Book is going along nicely, pages of action intertwinned with solid character and story building. Already on page 117 and so far loved every page! Great job D.M. Threnody is a welcome addition to the cast.

I was so superly excited when I got this book, IT WAS THE LAST IN THE STORE!!! and have just finished it in 2 days and it is by far my most favorite series.
Just a question... being a current resident of Adelaide, will you ever do a book signing?! it would be awesome to see the man behind this mythical work...

I got it! Already several chapters in...you certainly opened with quite the bang. Loving the Explicarium as usual...

BTW, this is kind of off-topic, but I emailed you once about a year ago (right after reading Foundling) and never got a reply. What's the best way to contact you, if you have time to talk?

Yes! I got my copy today, and it IS thick! I can't wait to read it!

WOW, just got to this after the week end off from all things MBT. Sorry if I do not reply to your specific comment.

I'll go with last query first: apologies to you, Josh for non-reply, the most likely reason is that your email was swallowed by the somewhat arbitary "junk" feature at Hotmai. I do check junk mails for the odd misdirected email but when they get to about 300+ I tend to trash them all. Try dm.cornish@halfcontinent.com and put MBT or Monster-Blood Tattoo as the subject or some such. If this is what you have already done, try again anyway - hope to hear from you soon.

LotR reader, giantfan is spot on, just leave your comment with the current post; the professions question is an ongoing project and answers to it always relevent no matter what the actual post. Sorry it was not clear.

For any Adelaide residents, such as yourself jackalope, I am planning on a somewhat belated launch party thingo soonish, though I have heard it said that the worst thing for a book is meeting its author - I really am rather ordinary in person. I will keep you posted none-the-less.

Andre! So you noticed. I apologise to all the more recent folks who come and whom I was unable, due to chronological tyranies, to also acknowledged. Next time perhaps...

Master Brand, definitely a relief to have Book 2 out properly, funny how its unreleasedness has haunted the back of my thinking.

So giantfan, am I detecting that you aren't so sure you like monsters quite so much now?

And jared, simple, thank you.

I STILL DON'T HAVE IT!!! But that's no one's fault but my own - I haven't had a spare minute to go out and buy it. Tomorrow is my day off, though... guess what I'll be doing?? (And if my local bookstores don't have it you'll hear the screams all the way over in Adelaide...) :)

Man...I'm so grateful to finally have it; got it Saturday May 3rd (pre-ordered), finished it Sunday May 4th at about 4:42 A.M. -I couldn't stop reading it you see.

I'd been waiting since October 2007, a week after I randomely plucked it off the shelves.

Man, if you ever get around to travelling then please, please visit Montreal (Canada); it'd be a great pleasure to meet you. Can I suggest during the summer, during the Just For Laughs festival if you're a fan of comedy? You know, I've met one other author in my lifetime...Tamora Peirce, one of my favorite novelists who just-so-happened to have commented on "Lamplighter"! I felt a certain sense of misplaced pride there...I certainly want to hug you now...

Lastly...so...when is that third book coming out? I'm having this terrible problem with salivation and eagerly twitching fingers you see...And again; thank you. Thank your from the farthest depths of my heart, I'm sure that like "Foundling" I'll read and re-read this again and again for monthes -exploring the H-C with Rossamund, and watching him grow has been the greatest pleasure I've had from a book in years =D

Wow is all I can say, certainly a page turned and the ending...a darn cliffhanger! Well done, Mr Cornish, well done indeed. I cannot wait for the story to continue and the world to be explored. I wandered into Foundling about a month ago and I am very happy to have done so, I burned through this second book as fast as I possibly good...and I eagerly await the third. My only request is: only a trilogy??? Certainly you could fill tomes and tomes with stories from this world. I hope that perhaps you write this trilogy, then opt to do more stories taking place here, but exploring other tales from this land.

Mr. Cornish, you've mentioned elsewhere that some people are (unpleasantly) surprised by the explicarium. Perhaps you've already considered (and rejected) this idea, but reference works often have stripes along the edges of pages to indicate different sections, and something like this could serve to mark off the explicarium visually, lessening the shock of a sudden and unexpected ending. Just my two cents, though.

I liked the second book, though I haven't finished reading the explicarium yet. :)

D.M. Cornish said...

I truly like that idea Tap - genius! It is probably too late for the MBT series, but if ever I write any other books that possess such a reference section as the Explicarium (hmm... what will I call it I wonder) then a tinted edge they may well have. If this happens you may take a well deserved bow!

Got book 2 today. Read it in 6 hours. Although I didn´t understand every word, since english is not my first language (couldn´t wait for the translation), I thought it was a great book. Now I have to wait for book 3, sigh.
Have to find out what happens to Rossamund and the others.
